Asamblea Regional 2014 en Nigeria

Hace unos meses, en el Centro Claretiano de Retiros de Nekede, Owerri, Nigeria, se celebró la Asamblea Regional del Movimiento de Seglares Claretianos, teniendo como hilo conductor el tema "Los Seglares Claretianos y su Espiritualidad Cristiana y Misionera". 

El evento fue inaugurado por el P. Simeón Nwobi CMF, Superior Provincial de Nigeria East y contó con la participación del asesor regional del Movimiento de Seglares Claretianos, P. Charles Amadi CMF y de otros misioneros claretianos que trabajan con el grupo. 

La primera conferencia correspondió al P. Jude Obiechina CMF, quien identificó a los Seglares Claretianos como cristianos que se esfuerzan por hacer propia la misión de Jesús en el mundo, que viven las exigencias del Reino y que ofrecen un servicio a la evangelización según el espíritu de San Antonio María Claret. Asimismo, aconsejó a los seglares para que asuman a la Santísima Virgen María como su modelo. 

Hablando sobre "Cómo desarrollar una profunda y equilibrada espiritualidad", el P. Charles Amadi subrayó los puntos esenciales para conseguirlo. 

La tercera ponencia correspondió al Hno. Richard Egbuobi con el título "El Seglar Claretiano: su misión y su espiritualidad". 

Además de las charlas, los participantes tuvieron tiempo para otras actividades como: talleres, concursos y otras actividades sociales y religiosas, culminando con la elección de los nuevos directivos que serán encabezados por el Sr. Sylvester Agwu como Coordinador Regional. 

La Asamblea concluyó con la celebración eucarística y las fotografías de grupo de los participantes y sus asesores.

LAY CLARETIANS OF VICTORIA ISLAND VISIT IBEFUN MISSION

Saturday the 3rd of December, 2011, was yet another opportunity for members of the Lay Claretian Movement of Victoria Island, Lagos, to identify themselves with the activities of the Claretian Mission. It was a cool morning, the air was already showing signs of Christmas, with the Harmattan gradually beginning to settle in, the weather was just perfect for the outdoors.
The Ibefun Mission is located within the Ijebu-Ode Diocese, in Ogun State. Situated in a serene environment amidst a lot of greenery and foliage, there is something calming and refreshing about the atmosphere there. It is immediately perceivably, a farming environment, suggested by the harvested tubers of yam stacked around the base of a tree at the rectory and the intermittent gobbling sounds that rent the air, from some turkeys.
The group was received by the Superior of the Community and Parish Priest of St Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Rev Fr Francis Ilonwa, Cmf. While giving a brief history of the place, he took the visitors on a tour of the Church, which had been dedicated early in November, during the celebration of the Centenary Anniversary of the Advent of Catholicism in the Community. However, few days after, the roofing of the church had given way, caving in and destroying some parts of the church building in the process. While on the tour, the visitors met various members of the parish still working to clear the debris from the ruins. They were obviously undeterred by this ‘minor’ setback. The lay claretians gave words of encouragement to the Parish priest and members of the church, before setting out for the Postulate House.
Apart from the Chaplain of the Lay Claretians, others who were on this visit include- Ifeyinwa Osime, Peter Onyia, May Osaweme, Uche Maduabuchi, Chinelo Onyenekwu and Amaka Obiekezie, a lay claretian from Festac Parish. All were grateful to God and to everyone who had made the visit possible. It was yet another opportunity to see and support the activities of the Claretian Mission in the Delegation of West Nigeria.

Los Seglares Claretianos de Nigeria junto al Superior General de los CMF

Lagos, Nigeria. Del 27 de octubre al 3 de noviembre el P. Josep Maria Abella, Superior General de los Misioneros Claretianos, acompañado de uno de sus Consultores, el P. Emmanuel Edeh, ha realizado una visita de animación a la Delegación de West Nigeria.
Dentro de su apretada agenda, El 30 de octubre presidió la Eucaristía en honor de San Antonio María Claret en la Iglesia de La Sagrada Familia, así mismo participó en los festejos organizados por los Seglares Claretianos de esta Parroquia.
La visita terminó el 3 de noviembre, día del cumpleaños del P. General. Con este motivo se celebró la Eucaristía en la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro de Isla Victoria, en Lagos y los feligreses organizaron un desayuno en su honor.

Noticias desde Owerri (Nigeria)

Desde Owerri, Nigeria, recibimos noticias de Alex, quien nos pone al día de las últimas actividades de los SSCC en su zona. Según nos cuenta, durante la pasada cuaresma los SSCC de Nigeria han llevado a cabo el Retiro anual de Cuaresma, de un día completo. El tema central del retiro estuvo a cargo del Asesor Fr. Christian Eze, quien expuso una conferencia sobre "El cumplimiento de la llamada de Dios en nuestras vidas." Se analizaron las siguientes dimensiones: la vocación del hombre, la vocación cristiana, la vocación laical y, finalmente, la vocación a la gloria eterna o la ignominia. Después de la conferencia, hubo talleres y trabajos por grupos de profundización que luego se expusieron. Además, durante el retiro hubo espacios celebrativos con la oración del rosario, canciones y tiempo de confesión, para finalmente terminar con la Eucaristía. Fue un momento fuerte de alimento espiritual que se disfrutó en común.
En este momento se encuentran mirando ya hacia delante y preparando con ilusión la fiesta del Inmaculado Corazón de María en el mes de junio.

We publish part of a letter received from Owerri (Nigeria), talking about their activities

“About our activities, during last lent, the Layclaretians conducted our yearly Lenten Retreat/Recollection. It is usually a full day's encounter. The topic of the retreat delivered by our Assessor Fr. Christian Eze is 'Fulfilling God's Call in Our Lives.' He discussed it under the following dimensions: the Human Vocation, the Christian Vocation, the Law Vocation and finally vocation to eternal glory or ignominy. After the lecture, we went into workshops- had 4 groups to further discuss the lecture and finally had presentations by the groups. In addition to the lecture, we included songs, prayers (ROSARY), confession and finally ended with the Mass. We were spiritually nurished and we enjoyed it. We did not take pictures, next time we shall take pictures and send them to you. We are looking forward and preparing for the feast of Immaculate Heart of Mary in the month of June. Rest assured of our prayers as you prepare for the ASSEMBLY in Brazil. We humbly commit the General Council to Jesus, Mary and Claret for a successful Assembly. Thank you and God bless. Lay Claretians of Victoria Island visits Igbo-Ora mission (Nigeria)

The Lay Claretians of Victoria Island, in recognition of their missionary calling within the Claretian family visited the Claretian mission in Igbo-Ora (Nigeria). The visit was carried out to have a sense of participation I the Claretian mission and as a mark of solidarity with professed members of the Claretian family who are on mission.
The Igbo-Ora mission is in the Archdiocese of Ibadan but is between 15 to 20 minutes drive from Abeokuta metropolis. It is also about two hours from Lagos where the group that made the visit set out from.
While on the visit, the Lay Claretian group took a walk round the mission house and the Church and asked the parish priest, Fr Livinus Orakwe, cmf, questions about the history And the nature of the mission in Igbo-Ora. His answers provided a lot of insight to the Lay Claretians about the mission, the joys and the challenges of working in the area. He also informed the group about the plan of the Delegation in providing a self-sustenance project for the mission.
The group provided a token of support to the missionaries who are currently working in that mission. Among the Lay Claretians who were on the visit were the coordinator of Victoria Island Lay Claretains, Mr Obiora Unigwe, others are Mrs Ifeyinwa Osime, Joke Rokosu and the Lay Claretian Chaplain Fr Gregory Ezeokeke, cmf. The host, fr Livinus Orakwe, cmf expressed a lot of gratitude to the visitors for the visit which he considered very kind and thoughtful on their part. The visitors on their part were very grateful to Fr Livinus and to God for the opportunity to indentify themselves with the Claretian missionary activity. They felt they could build on their experience in Igbo-Ora and even improve on the quality of their subsequent visits.

Seglares Claretianos de Victoria Island visitan la misión Igbo-Ora (Nigeria)

Un grupo de Seglares Claretianos de Victoria Island, en sintonía con su vocación misionera visitaron la misión claretiana de Igbo-Ora (Nigeria). La visita ha tenido un sentido de participación y de solidaridad en la común misión.
Igbo-Ora se ubica en la Arquidiócesis de Ibadan y a unos 15 o 20 minutos en coche desde la ciudad de Abeokuta. Desde la ciudad de Lagos, de donde partió el grupo, se hacen dos horas de camino.
Los visitantes pudieron conocer la casa, la Iglesia y las instalaciones de la misión y plantearon al P. Livinus Orakwe CMF, Párroco del lugar, diversas preguntas sobre la historia y la naturaleza de la misión en Igbo-Ora. En sus respuestas, avaladas por un profundo conocimiento de todo lo concerniente a la misión, el Párroco compartió las alegrías y los desafíos del trabajo en esta zona. También informó al grupo sobre un proyecto de la Delegación para el auto-sustento de la misión.
El grupo representa un apoyo a los misioneros que están trabajando actualmente en este lugar. Entre los Seglares Claretianos que se encontraban en la visita estaban el coordinador del grupo de Victoria Island, el Sr. Obiora Unigwe, las Sras. Ifeyinwa Osime y Rokosu Broma, así como el P. Gregorio Ezeokeke CMF, su asesor. El anfitrión, P. Livinus, expresó su gratitud por la atención de los visitantes. Ellos, a su vez, se mostraron muy agradecidos con el P. Livinus y por la oportunidad que Dios les concedió, de identificarse con la vocación claretiana. Ellos han descubierto que lo vivido en Igbo-Ora les servirá de fundamento y les ayudará a mejorar la calidad de sus próximas visitas.
